Be enrolled in a US accredited institution of higher education on a full time basis for the Fall 2021 semester, have a GPA of at least 3.5 out of 4.0 (or the equivalent). (Some scholarships require a lower GPA for eligibility. Students in a pass-fail system are also eligible.) Be a United States Citizen or permanent resident alien. Have Italian American ancestry. To be considered Italian American, the student must have at least one ancestor who has immigrated from Italy. Have an active NIAF Membership. Previous study or travel in Italy will not make the applicant ineligible. The award must be used for study on the FSU Exchange program at the Università per Stranieri di Perugia in Perugia, Italy or the Centro linguistico di ateneo of the Università di Pavia in Pavia, Italy. The award is valued at $6,000. To be eligible for an award, applicants must have a declared major in Italian, a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 in Italian and must have completed an ITA or ITW course at the 3000 level or higher-level Italian course at FSU by no later than the end of the semester in which the application is made.

The Gian-Paolo Biasin Memorial Travel Prize

 

  • The Department of Italian Studies offers a competitive annual award for the Gian-Paolo Biasin Memorial Travel Prize. The prize amount varies depending on the year, and is to be used toward funding a recent Berkeley graduate’s travel to Italy for further study, either in the summer immediately after graduating or in the following academic year. All current seniors who intend to graduate within the year are eligible to apply. Applicants must have achieved passing grades in at least three courses taken in the Department of Italian Studies, at least one of which must have been taught in Italian.
  • The Department of Italian Studies is giving the Gian-Paolo Biasin Memorial Travel Prize at a competitive annual competition. The value of the award varies depending on the year, which is to be used to finance a recent Berkeley graduate’s trip to Italy for further research, either in the summer shortly after graduation or in the academic year following.   • The ITALO-AMERICAN ASSOCIATION Scholarship was founded to help students from Florida Atlantic University undertake a study abroad experience in Venice , Italy, through a study abroad program with Florida Atlantic University, approved by universities. This scholarship is for students of both sexes. Scholarship winners will receive a financial donation ($500) to a summer trip abroad which will introduce them to Venice’s history , architecture and environment. Students are supposed to engage regularly in culturally and socially beneficial events when they are in Venice, to be accepted with the tour leader. The candidate needs to meet the following conditions. He / she must be: full-time FAU student Academically qualified student (GPA above 3.0), participant in the FAU Study Abroad Program in Venice City, ready to attend the Thank You Session, and a second meeting upon return (TBA). UNICO Scholarship for Study in Venice

 

  • The Highland Beach Chapter of UNICO will help students conduct a study abroad experience in
    Venice, Italy, through the FAU ͞EdƵcaƚion Abroad͟ program͘
    One or more scholarships may be given, ranging from $500 to $1,500.00. The scholarship will
    be used for the students going to Venice, Italy, for a six-week period to study the Italian
    language and culture. After an initial screening by FAU Italian faculty, the final approval will be
    from the Board of Governors of the Highland Beach Chapter.

Enrico Dallio Scholarship for Study in Venice

 

  • To honor Enrico Dallio and his his positive influence on young people, this
    Scholarship helps Florida Atlantic University students who will conduct the FAU study abroad
    in Venice, Italy, with a financial contribution of $400.

Tony Colella Scholarship

 

  • A scholarship recipient will be provided with a financial contribution ($1,000) towards the participation
    in the FAU study abroad program, which includes several learning opportunities (language and culture
    classes, day trips).
    When the student returns from abroad, he/she will be asked to provide the board members with
    highlights of the trip and a report of what was learned, both culturally and educationally, from the
    experience.
    The student should be ready to accomplish the mission of youth ambassador from Broward County to
    Italy, in order to strengthen the relationship between these two countries and provide a positive image of
    the home country abroad.
  • A scholarship winner will receive a financial grant ($1,000) to enroll in the FAU study abroad program , which provides many learning experiences (language and culture courses, day trips) and, after the student returns from abroad, he / she will be asked to provide the board members with details of the trip and a briefing on what has been learned, both culturally and culturally. The student should be able to fulfill the role of Broward County’s youth ambassador to Italy to improve the friendship between these two countries and have a good picture of the home country abroad.


Study Abroad Flight Fellowship

 

  • A limited number (3 per year) of up to $1000 study abroad fellowships are available for deserving students who are declared LLCL majors or minors.
    The fellowship will reimburse the expenses for the cost of the flight to an LLCL-sponsored or approved program, which includes a course taught in lingua.
    The students will apply to the Scholarship Committee with a receipt of the flight, unofficial transcripts, and proof of acceptance into a study abroad program.
    CRITERIA for this Award: Merit-based (the higher GPA the better),Declared LLCL majors or minors
    Accepted in a LLCL-sponsored or approved program, which includes a course taught in lingua
  • For eligible students who are deemed LLCL Majors or Minors, a small amount (3 per year) of up to $1000 study abroad fellowships is available. The fellowship may cover the costs of the trip to a college funded or accepted by LLCL, which requires a course taught in lingua. The applicants can apply to the Scholarship Committee with a travel receipt, confidential transcripts and proof of admission to an overseas study programme. CRITERIA for this Award: Merit-based (better than GPA),Declared LLCL majors or minors Accepted in a curriculum funded or accepted by LLCL, including a course taught in lingua


Marco Pozza Research Fellowship

 

  • This Research Assistantship is given by the FAU Italian Program to deserving students. It
    is a project-based assistantship to develop special initiatives that expand Italian and
    Italian American academic research. It may be used by graduate students during class
    breaks. The amount of the fellowship and the time commitment will vary, according to
    the project.
    The creative nature of this assistantship honors poet Marco Pozza
  • This Research Assistant is offered to eligible students by the FAU Italian Scheme. Ramappo Scholarship Italian Studies

 

  • The Coccia Foundation currently has seven sponsored scholarships. At Montclair State University, the Coccias established an institute to promote an understanding of the links between Italy and America and to foster interest in Italian and Italian-American fields of study. To be eligible you must be: Italian Language minor, promote Italian language, culture and education, nominated by faculty

ICF Italian Language Scholarship

 

  • In 1998, to honor Mario Cugia, Past President and Life Member of the Italian Catholic Federation Central Council, an Italian Studies Scholarship Program was created. Supplementing the Federation’s Scholarship Program for lower division students, the Mario Cugia Scholarship has been established to encourage and support majors in Italian studies.The program offers two scholarships: (1) a $600 award to a 3rd year university student declaring a major in Italian, and (2) a $1,000 award to a 4th year university student continuing his or her studies in Italian.
    Applicants must be of the Roman Catholic Faith, of Italian descent or – if non-Italian – children or grandchildren of current members of the Italian Catholic Federation and must have declared a major in Italian Language, Literature, History, Art or other aspect of Italian culture.

LUIGI & ANITA TRAVERSO ENDOWMENT

 

  • The Luigi and Anita Traverso Endowment has been created by Professor Emeritus Giancarlo Traverso to honor his and his brother Giuseppe’s parents. It provides funding for scholarships to benefit SUNY New Paltz students interested in Italian Studies and for an annual lecture series open to the public. The endowment seeks to increase enrollment in the Italian Studies Program, to expand the program’s service to the Hudson Valley community, to offer forums for discussion on the Italian and Italian-American experience and to help establish a major in Italian Studies. Applicant must be a junior attending full time in good academic standing. Applicant must have completed the New Paltz intermediate Italian language sequence (courses ITA201 and ITA202) or equivalent.Scholarships will provide a maximum of $2,000 to spend at least an academic semester abroad studying in a recognized Italian University with nine or more transfer credits earned in “subject matter” courses such as literature, history, art history, mathematics, economics, psychology and philosophy.
